Hi All:

Last year was my first year with my 2015 29S. I did all right with logging activity but really would like to get more organized.

Is there anyone out there who is a fussy, anal retentive, detail oriented, overkill master spreadsheet guru who has digitized their logbook process?

Would you be willing to share your Excel art? I would be happy to remit my changes in a kind of Open Source for Tugnuts kind of way.

Thanks in advance,
Daryll.

I'm still old-sKool. I have a logbook on the boat that I hand-write in.
Date/Time, where I'm going. When I left. When I returned. Who's on the boat. Engine hours, water, fuel on board. How much fish I caught, tide info, depth, etc... Also a section for fueling up, gas burned divided by engine hours. And a section for maintenance performed, cost of the maintenance.

An app for my phone might be better going forward. But this has been working for me.

You might want to try looking up ships log book in your app store (phone or other device). There is one called Ships Log Book For Captains that has some good reviews ! Bob

I've been using the handwritten Evergreen logbook (it's quite good) in combination with iAuditor, which is an extremely powerful app for custom "checklists" and logs (because it's much more than just a checklist, you can integrate logging functionality like engine hours, fuel, etc.). I have some iAuditor templates I can share, if helpful.

Are you referring to a maintenance log or travel log? My maintenance log is hand written in a bound book. I still like hand written, but in retrospect it would have been easier to log things by category and in date order. Sometimes I have to look back as to when I did something and guess first when I may have done it. Excel would be helpful and easy because you could sort as you may want to at any time. So with excel my first column would be category- And use the same category name each time you enter, such as: Engine, Hull, Electrical, Equipment. Next column would be date. Next column would be description of work. I would make all entries in date order, but later on you can sort by any one of those columns very easily.
