self bailing cockpit

I seem to have a problem with my cockpit self bailing feature. First I have a factory installed genset which makes the boat list to port. My scupper which is located port side aft near transom. It seems that the scupper drain hoses are lower than the main drain so the water must run uphill to escape. Does anyone else have this problem? The boat was built in 2007. If there was a l type fitting which was shorter than the white pvc one i could raise the hose somewhat which would help but I dont think this "L" fitting can be modified because of the composite material it is made of. Anyone have a way to solve this problem.

Dick,
Everybody curses the cockpit drains. Well......maybe not everybody?
The drains will drain, the water just sit in the low spots in the drain lines until it get high enought to run on through.
The bigger problem is, the drains easily get blocked by even small stuff like hair or lint from the carpet.
Use a small screw driver to pry out the strainer in the center of each drain.
There are four drains.
Save these gizmos because they are the same as that used in the shower.

Problem number 2, the step that covers the generator may not have a rubber gasket on it like the hatch on the engine compartment and the hatches on the lockers under the deck. My R-25 is a 2007 and this gasket was not present. Go to Lowes and get "camper tape" which is used to seal a camper to the bed of a pickup truck. This stuff is about the equivalent of the gasket material that is used on the various other hatch covers on the rear deck. Use it to seal up the step over the generator. This is not as easy as it looks because of the way the front, and the right front corner of the step is shaped. The best you may be able to do is minimize the amount of water that can go below here.
