Hi all,

As the leaves begin to turn and we edge closer to fall, it's a good time to reflect on all the FUN we had over the summer. That brings us to this month's theme: Most memorable moment of the year! Send us a photo and story about best, most memorable moment you've had while out cruising. Maybe it was something you caught, a destination you've been dreaming about and finally made it to or you finally saw those beautiful orcas you've been hoping to see. Let's see the most memorable moments from this year!

Please send your photos to briandickhaut@rangertugs.com

We'll be taking submissions until September 30th 2020 at 11:59pm PDT.

If you're not familiar with our Tugnuts Monthly Photo Contest, every month we give away a pair of custom embroidered Ranger Tugs or Cutwater Boats jackets! Each month has a new theme and entry in the contest is simple, just email your photo and a description or comment to briandickhaut@rangertugs.com and at the end of the month we'll hold a vote here at the factory to select the winner. If you win, we'll announce it here on Tugnuts and send you an email to arrange delivery of your free jackets.

To get us started, here are a couple photos I took during a recent photoshoot for the Cutwater C-24 Center Walkaround and C-24 Dual Console. Our Marketing Director Sam Bisset and I trailered the Dual Console about 6 hours from our Arlington, Washington factory to Kettle Falls, Washington and met our VP Jeff Messmer who had brought the C-24 CW. The last two photos were taken from our campsite on the beach, the stars were in full bloom and with little to no light pollution to speak of it was an unforgettable night's sky.

"We've had many great moments on our R29 this summer, but this one stands out and we feel the picture does as well!

First overnight cruise on our R29 after three years of searching for the perfect boat - Des Moines to Tacoma and a night at the Dock Street Marina. (5/29/2020)

"Spent the last 2 weeks in the San Juans buddy boating with my in-laws (Mike and Debra Myhre) that purchased a Ranger 27 last year. Had mostly good weather with exception of a couple of days. I’m now a believer in the saying I’ve always heard about these boats that they will take a beating by far better than their crews."

"Good Night Moon

Sometimes you’re fortunate to find yourself in that perfectly peaceful moment made possible by owning a Ranger Tug. In a sometimes chaotic world, times like this are priceless.

This is one of my favorite photos of all time. A lot of boat photos either show the boat, or what you see from the boat. You really don't get a feel of what it is like to be on the boat. This picture shows us going through New York Harbor to spend the night at Liberty Landing Marina at the start of your annual 3-week summer cruise. Anytime I see it I feel like I'm there again, driving the boat through one of the most interesting bodies of water in the country at the start of a wonderful vacation. COVID, work, and all the other stresses of 2020 just disappear.

Recent Trip on our Ranger 23 traveling down the Cumberland River from Kentucky Lake to Nashville round trip 270 miles much of that time at Hull Speed. Had the Nashville Docks to ourselves.

"Attached are a couple of pictures taken this summer during a fishing/cruising trip with my son and grandson on the Annie M, a 2016 27C outside Sawmill Bay in Prince William Sound. We found ourselves surrounded in all directions by 75 -100 orcas in pods of 5-8 whales. We watched them chasing what we think were pink salmon for probably an hour. Seeing that many and being that close to these amazing animals was a ‘once in a life time experience’ and the highlight of our summer fishing/cruising in SE Alaska. Something very special for three generations to share."

"I have a friend that owns 40 acres on Stuart Island from the entrance to Reid Harbor through Johns Pass. In the fall we put up close to 100 gallons of apple juice from the two apple orchards on the property. I made an apple press from a 20 ton Harbor Freight press and an apple grinder from an electric wood chipper. The photos are taken from the property showing some of the process."

From Martin N. on MV Channel Surfing

"Two things that go well together... Prevost Harbor (Stuart Island) and Puget Sound Spot Shrimp. We purchased our Ranger tug new, took delivery in June at the very end of Shrimp season. Our first day out, we caught 63 and lost a pot. After hanging our head in shame, we went home, re-evaluated, changed some gear, changed some tactics. Then Fish and Game re-opened the season! We took Channel Surfing back out and soaked two pots, 60 minutes in the water. The first pot pulled had 302 shrimp, the second had 247! Paired
that with gorgeous weather, flat seas, made for some great fishing and relaxing on the hook. We also spent lots of time cruising throughout the San Juan Islands, some at anchor (Sucia Island Echo Bay, Stuart Island, Prevost Harbor), as well as the many marinas throughout the San Juans."

"We had the opportunity to take our longest trip yet in our R29 CB: From Annapolis to NYC and then around Long Island and back to the Chesapeake Bay. One of the highlights was docking at Liberty Landing Marina with the Manhattan skyline in the background, highlighted by the Freedom Tower."

"Season is over up here in the great white north, we spent 65 days on the boat doing over 400 nm! Spectacular sunsets and we even got to anchor at the end of the rainbow! The Ranger Tug 21EC is a perfect platform for cruising the North Channel of a Lake Huron, the best fresh water cruising in the world!
Enjoy and see you all on the water in 2021!"
