I plan to ship my R-31CB to Washington from San Francisco this summer to cruise the San Juans. The boat came with a custom awning for the flybridge that is very large and complicated to put up and take down. Once I put it up, I have never taken it down for that reason.
In order to ship the boat, I will have to take it down. If I decide to keep it for the trip, I will have to put it somewhere, and then reassemble it at the destination. Or, I can leave it home.
So, my question is, is it worth it to go through this trouble? In other words, how important is it to have an awning over the flybridge in the San Juans during the summer?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

We have a command bridge no awning. We spend one to two months on the water in the San Juan's and I run the boat solely from the camand bridge. A nice hat and sunscreen is all I'v needed. The average daily temperature in July August is 70's to 80's. With some hotter days thrown in. However when at anchor you will need some shade in the cockpit to escape the sun.
