Pots, Bait, can we pull up the pots by hand, or don't even try? And the wife questioin......... What do you DO with the shrimp once you pull up the pot? Carry a cooler???

Thanks
Nancy

Nancy, take a look over on the C-Brats site, search on Shrimp or Shrimping, you should get lots of "hits".

We have been shrimping in Hood Canal for about 15 Years. The shrimp are down about 200 to 300 feet.
We use a electric puller. The pots weigh about 25 to 35 lbs each. I have seen people hand pull the pots
but it is a lot work. If you are interested talking to me about it you can contact me through my E-Mail. dencarst@comcast.net

Isn't this what the anchor windlass is for? 😀

(my husband put me up to this!)

I actually use my anchor windlass. It's a horizontal axis model with a drum on the side opposite from the gypsy. I added another roller off to the side from the anchor roller. I run the shrimp line over that roller, then warp it three times around the windlass drum. I've already loosened the gypsy so the drum can turn without turning the gypsy. I run the windlass with a foot switch, and as the line comes in I wind it onto its plastic reel - works quite well.
