As part of winterization, I remove batteries from all battery operated devices in the cabin— flashlights, TV and stereo remotes, and the remotes for the autopilot and thrusters.

After reinstalling the battery for my thruster remote, it would not power on. I checked that the battery was good and checked that the remote did not function, so it’s not just a matter of the internal light signifying power-on status being burned out.

To replace the remote is $315! Does anybody out there have guidance on how to bring this thing back to life? It functioned fine before removing the battery.

Child lock turned off ?

Is the dash switch for the remote turned on?

Is it possible that you just need to repair the remote?

Within 10s after the receiver pair button is pushed, set the transmitter in pairing mode by holding the off button and pressing both “ON” buttons at the same time, all the transmitter LED’s turn on indicating that it is set in pairing mode.

I remove the batteries out of all my remotes for the winter to avoid corrosion. When I reinserted the batteries into the side power remote I was misled by the positive symbol in the remote indicating which way the batteries should face. I assumed the symbol meant positive side down when in fact it was the opposite. I flipped the batteries over and everything worked.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the replies.

There is no child lock or dash switch for the remote on my 2012 model boat.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been at the boat, but I’m pretty sure that I tried reorienting battery polarity.

I called Imtra yesterday and technical service person Miles, as did another poster, suggested trying to pair the remote to the receiver. This is not the first time I have removed the batteries during winterization. All other times I have done so, the remote worked as usual when the batteries were re-installed.

So now the question: Where is the world might I find the thruster remote receiver box on a 2012 R27?

look under just aft the throttle is mounted. Not easy to get to.

Thanks. I’ll look there. With the NMEA 2000 backbone installed behind the the refrigerator, I would not be surprised that the thruster remote receiver would be installed in an equally inaccessible place.

Just replaced the thruster remote on my C28. It was an absolute bear. The receiver is mounted under the throttle. I took out the joystick but I couldn't fit my hand through. Had to work from the quarterberth. Murder trying to reach the receiver to remove plug. After that, It was hell to reach the program button.

Finally got it after about five tries. Using a pencil did the trick for me. My LED was red, not yellow like it says in the manual. Not a big deal.

I think I damaged the original by over tightening the screws when I replaced the batteries.

I'll never let that happen again!

I hope I didn’t do that!

On my boat, I’m hoping to access the remote receiver by pulling out the A/C-D/C power panel located at the helm of my 2012 R27 Classic. I still really don’t know the exact location of the remote receiver.
