Can someone please tell me the difference in the size of the cockpit in the 2010 R-29 versus the size of cockpit in the 2011 R-29. Thanks, Gary

Isn't the same?

No, with the new stairs, you gain significant space (so much so, Karma heads to the factory at the end of the month to have the new steps installed.....) I cannot tell you how many square feet you gain, I can just tell you it is worth the money.......

David, is there a photo showing the new stairs?

We were just on Moondance (2012 R-29) today. I'm not sure when the change took place, but here are a few quick iPhone shots of ours:

The factory website still has the larger steps on their virtual tour of the 29 - a pretty significant difference. No doubt that opens the cockpit up a bunch.

Now, imagine our stairs. They come all the way out to where the top stair does. With the new stairs, you gain at least 20 inches of width. It is well worth the money that we will spend on having the new stairs installed.

On top of that, the edges on the new steps are rolled down and two latches are used to secure them. This will prevent chipping of the edges as well as leaking around the seals.... Once this is completed we will move our freezer out of the midship stateroom and into the lazarette on the port side.

Again, well worth the boat unit it will cost to replace the old the old stairs.

While Karma is in the factory we will also have the following work done:

Pantry installed in the mid ship stateroom
Opening port put in the mid ship stateroom (I purchased a Lewmar Port at the Seattle Boat Show)
Additional storage added to master stateroom in the form of a night table on the port side
Additional storage on starboard side of berth in master stateroom

Since we have figured out we really basically live aboard, we decided to add the storage for clothing......

Once completed I will post pictures on our website.
