Subject: So who has been out fishing in this new 2020 year?

Fishing season in my Edmonds area opened up 1/1/2020 and I had every intention of going out.... but other pesky (well not really, but has been holiday time and things to do and places to go visit 😀) things have kept me on land.

Once the current weather/wind/rain/snow lets up some. I'll being going out for sure... can't wait to get out there. I'm suffering from cabin fever. 😱

I have, here in San Clemente, CA. waters. Drifting for Halibut on a clear, 75 degree, calm waters day.

Great question. I’m getting my initial bottom painting done right now but plan on trying for sturgeon and stripers in the bay. There’s a good tides window 7-9 February. Sturgeon fishing can be pretty boring but with all the comforts of home on board,I guess I’m not too worried.

We started crabbing in December on Humboldt Bay and whenever we could get out either north or south of the bar.
So far the crabbing has been good but the weather has been lousy.

Killed it crabbing off Kingston and Camano in December. Have been fishing twice and nothing but shakers. I'm not alone- the fishing is really bad right now but I've been told by a guide friend of mine it will pick up in a couple weeks.

Started fishing for winter spring in Feb but was very slow in the Victoria BC area where I fish. In this past few weeks it has been picking up and while most are in the 4-6lbs range, reports show that a couple of guys have landed ones in the 12 to 15lb range.

Our halibut season opened on Mar-01 and after two skunk trips, a couple days ago, I picked up my first one of the year just off of Pedder Bay (just North of Victoria) Our size limit is 126cm max and this one was 125cm and was very fortunate to land this one solo. Glad to get back out fishing in between the many windy day we are having.

We fished for winter Blackmouth 4 times off Edmonds, Possession Bar and Point No Point the past 5 weeks. The first outing was successful. Nothing but shakers since along with an occasional not in season rockfish and lingcod. Most mornings were calm though cold. Great to have the comforts of a RangerTug to keep warm.

It will be almost 2 months before the docks are put in my marina so I can launch my boat. 🙁

Still too much ice for boats........but not safe ice for machines.........the fish are safe for now......

New RT owner here!
I made a trip out of Everett yesterday between Hat and Camano island. Really was a trip just to learn the new electronics and how the boat handles trolling. I have a 9.9 kicker tie bar to the main.
I did land one chinook but it was about 18 inches so back it went. I have fished all other salmon including chinook but this blackmouth fishing is interesting trying to keep the gear on the bottom. The auto pilot sure helps.
