Hi - I have found on the Gramin menus that I havve a GT15-M transducer in my newly purchased 2021 R31CB. Would that be a through-hull transducer? Thanks!

To my knowledge, Fluid Motion has always installed in-hull transducers in all their boats.

Many previous threads on Tugnuts about these working intermittently, recommendations in this case is to reseal housing to inside of hull and make sure housing is full of anti-freeze.

The trick is locating and accessing the factory installed transducer, which ranges from complete pain in the ass to impossible.

Last Fall I gave up on mine and had thru-hull transducer (Airmar B619 w/Garmin 8-pin connector) installed, port side next to diesel engine, opposite of water intake. Works fantastic, reads down to 800', never loses bottom reading, also tells water temp.

According to the Garman web site the GT-15-M comes in either a in-hull , transom mounted or through hull!
So to answer your question- it may or may not depending on which one is installed!
Note: If you can read water temperature than it’s a transom mount or through hull

I have a 2019 R-31S, complete with transducer issues. Mine is awkwardly accessed by opening the hatch in front of the oven and looking to the starboard side. It is more than awkward, but I could just reach it by hand. I found the sealant / adhesive had reached the end of it's life. I grabbed the transducer and it easily popped off the hull with the lightest of tugs (pun intended). I cleaned up the reservoir, and reset it with clear "Lexel" sealant purchased from Ace Hardware. I refilled the pot with pink RV anti Freeze, yes from Ace Hardware, and it has been working fine. Note the screws which hold the sender to the reservoir are six, tiny Phillips head screws. I used a jewelers screw driver, from Ace Hardware and it made the job much easier.
