Specifications??

The new Ranger Tug website is nice and somewhat user friendly but it leaves me with some questions about the specifications on the various models. If you look at the lengths provided for both the R23 and the R25 you find they are identical, except when you put them on trailers and then the R23 is supposed to be 4 inches longer than the R25. Is the swim platform/motor mount that much longer on the R23 that it uses up much more space, or is there a typo? The fresh water tank on the R29 is specified as 45 gallons. The old specification was 60 gallons. Is the tank actually smaller than it used to be or was the specification corrected?

I've also noticed the R-31 has a different LOA on the new vs. the old website... Which is correct?

Simple answer regarding the overall length between R 23 and R 25. The R-25 is a new design where the outboard has been moved forward to the front of the swim platform splitting the platform in half. On the R-23 the outboard hangs off the back of the platform adding an additional two feet (+/-). I suspect this design will be adopted on all new outboard models going forward.

Over the past several months, we’ve been performing a complete internal audit of our model specifications. One of our primary goals for the new websites is to make sure we are supplying customers an abundance of useful and accurate information about the boats we build.

The specifications on the new website should be accurate as to the boats in production today. We have found and corrected some typography errors on the site since it launched a couple weeks ago. By this point, hopefully we have eliminated any specification errors but If you find something please send it to us. Thank you to everyone who has sent us notes to help correct any errors.

Our customer service team has hand-measured and weighed each model currently in production which has resulted in the data that you see on the website and spec sheets today. Fluid capacities used to be listed as gross system capacity (tank, water heater, lines, etc.). Moving forward, we are listing the individual tank capacities only.

If you have any questions on specifications, feel free to give us a call at the factory. Thanks for your patience as we work out all the bugs on the new site.

Thanks Sam! One omission I noted is that there STILL is no R-29-OB listed!!!

I noticed that the draft of the r29cb/s is now listed as 34". The prior specs sheets all say 28". Can you le us know which is accurate? That's a meaningful 6" difference! :?

2 more little problems, when I try to find the nearest dealer all I get is Kent WA is the closest dealer to Louisville KY. Also no links to Tugnuts etc.

We're glad to see that the factory increased the published weight of the R23 to 6000#. That spec is probably close to the dry weight of a popularly optioned R23.

My previous owner used the previously published 5000# weight of the R23 to help size the trailer he purchased second hand. We discovered, after weighing the fully optioned, wet, and provisioned R23, to be 500# heavier that the payload capacity of the trailer he purchased. Perhaps, if the previous owner would have been better counseled by a factory published weight of 6000# he would have opted for the next size trailer.
