What does everyone use to keep spiders out of the cabin?

Phil

snakes? 😱

I always used the Raid fumigator...not the Kind that sray a mist but the type that you place in a bit of water to activate the "smoke". The smoke penetrates every nook and cranny better than any other product I've ever seen. and smells fairly ok too. Works very, very well...make sure you bag any smoke and CO detectors. Area is asafe to re-enter in 4 hours. It leaves no film on windows etc.
Comes in a 3 pak for around $11 at Home Depot.

If you use the Raid Fumigator, please follow the "precautions" as noted here: http://www.raidkillsbugs.com/fop_fum_pre.asp
I'm sure they have improved their product, but be aware of the heat issues. Fires have been caused by these.

We have lots and lots of spiders. I not only use the aforementioned RAID (occasionally), but I also spray the outside of the boat with TEMPO, a mix-and-spray pesticide. I only need to spray about twice a year (May and August). It it toxic to fish and other critters, so I spray while on the trailer, but if you are real careful, you could probably spray while on a lift or at a dock. I also spray the above the water portions of the dock and lift prior to putting them in for the summer. TEMPO is kinda expensive at about $50 per bottle, but it only takes about one bottle a year to do the boat, dock, lift and house exterior. Of course, we have winter, which is the best pesticide there is....Since I started using TEMPO, I have not had to used the RAID stuff except once, in a particularly nasty year.

Stop trespassing on their boat and they will leave you be.

Hot shot makes a "kitchen safe" spider spray as I recall. http://www.hotshot.com/products-and-sol ... n-bug.aspx

Sounds corny but staying ahead of the problem by vacuuming up the critters, their nests and egg sacs can also make a difference.

We also treat fabrics, luggage etc with primethrins to cut down on bugs when traveling in general.

Physical and chemical hazards: When metal can comes in contact with the water, and for 30 minutes thereafter, the metal can will be hot. This is normal. In order to avoid skin burns, do not touch hot metal can during this time. Heat-resistant plastic cup protects the surface where it is placed.

The Raid Fumigator doesn't get hot enough to start a fire (the cup is plastic) but it can get hot enough to possibly damage heat sensitive surfaces like formica or carpet or a hand attached to someone that should have left well before the can even started to get hot. Being that nobody should enter the area for 4 hours, the can has long since cooled before anyone would touch it. The "smoke" is not flamable or an explosion hazard. Even so, as a "belt and suspenders" guy I always place the cup in another non-heat sensitive container like a clean tuna can or pie tin.

Those products that may cause fires or explosion hazard are of the types that "lock" open an aerosol spraycan and release proprellants and other flamables into an enclosed space, and may reach a fuel/air ratio that can be ignited by a pilotlight or spark. Even these are harmless unless someone sets off WAY to many in a small space..the water heater then cycles on and ends up blowing their doublewide to bits.

For inside cabin I use sticky traps, when we leave and they are all stuck up when we get back. And anything else that wandered on to the boat.

Move to Anacortes

This morning I saw the biggest, blackest spider I have ever seen in my life in the cockpit. I'm going to fumigate with Raid, spray the outside and the dock, and if all else fails....I'll move to Anacortes! Thanks for all the suggestions.

Or, You could tell them it's their turn to pay for the beer.....makes my relatives dis-appear every time.
Might work on spiders too

I googled Tempo...can't be sold in NY....not surprised.
