spin around the mooring

Hi All,

While on a mooring I noticed my R23 constantly spins while other boats remain relatively still. I gather this is due to my boat is mostly out of the water and is subjected to the wind rather than a slight current. Putting out a second anchor is an option but in some locations it's very rocky and I'm told if you put out an anchor it's the last time you'll see it.

I read a sea anchor will not help out in this situation....any other ideas?

Smaller boats = lighter weight and more subject to all kinds of movement. I often tie with a friend who has a 42’ ocean Alexander and my boat bounces around like a ball with light waves and some wind where as his is much more steady. He weighs 4x more than I do.

Don't use a second anchor out the stern. You want your boat to swing like the others. Some of the boats where I moor that are smaller, lighter and have cabins will swing a lot also. One guy has hung two 5 gallon buckets off either side of the stern in the water with 20 pounds of weight in each. The weight and resistance seems to have helped a lot. He leaves the buckets and weights on the dingy when he leaves
