Probably a dumb question, but how do I drain the fresh water tank without having to run the pump forever? I am wanting to flush tank a couple of times. My boat is a 2014 Ranger 31S. Thanks.

Hello,

You could drain the tank via the pump then you would need to plumb a new hose from the bottom of the tank then out and overboard, you would need a in line pump to do so. We have cleaned tanks multiple times using the fresh water pump and just running the faucets, not the fastest but the easiest. We have used cheap Vodka in the past to sanitize the tank, also with running the pump you clean out the whole system not just the tank. When cleaning with Vodka, use about half of a half gallon, fill tank 1/4-1/2 full and drain, repeat till happy with smell and taste of water. Usually 2 times with Vodka/water mix then 1 full tank of water full to empty. Hope this helps, feel free to email me direct if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Kevin Lamont

I add 2oz of bleach to the tank and fill it up, let stand for a day they drain with the sink faucet.

My boat is on order, but I would think there is a city water connection. Yes? The Vodka sounds great, but just to flush the pink out of the lines.

If not, I know I will be adding one. For the sake of others, you would need one with a pressure regulator protect your boat's water system. As in https://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?p ... 6&id=10361

You can try fishing a length of small poly or tygon tubing down through the fill port into the tank. If you are able to do that you can then syphon it out if on shore or suck it out with a pump, vacuum, etc. Not familiar with how the fill line is routed on the 31. On the 25 it is really difficult because there is an elbow directly on top of the tank. It's doable but not easy.

Or you can just run a faucet.... 😀

OK, thanks everybody!
