Did not expect this in first winter. Kept in shed in North Vancouver. The pads etc seem ok so fasteners the offending part.
Anyone else have this issue?

Weeping rust from SS screws happened frequently on my 2017 R29CB. We traded in that boat for a brand new 31CB yesterday....and there's already a rust streak coming from a SS screw!

Hello,

I am sorry to hear that is happening. Is it coming between the head of the screw and the pad? What I have seen is when the screw gets tightened down it scratches the stainless a little bit and than after a little bit you can see some rust starting to run out. A stiff bristle brush and some cleaner should take it right off, we use On/Off product but this has been good to me in the past. Whenever I returned from the saltwater on my folks R31CB we always did a deep clean on the exterior with soap and water to get the salt water off and clean any other dirt/debris which really helped keeping the rust away. When they sold it I told the buyer he was basically getting a factory demo but to which he said "I can see that!!" A little elbow grease should get it looking like new again. Hope this helps!!

Thanks,

I always come back to what a friend once told me.... It's Stainless not Stainfree.

Thank you for the input . I ran my Seabird for 25 yrs and don’t have the problem. At any rate elbow grease will dutifully be applied .

Looking forward to a COVID free anchorage and well spaced !

Cheers

For the last couple of years I have been removing the rust stain that re-appeared over and over around one of the stanchions on the swim platform, to no lasting resolution. So, last month I removed a screw/bolt where most of the rust seemed to originate from.

What I found is a bolt that was rusted almost all the way through in the middle of it - crevice corrosion. In examining the hole in the swim platform, it became clear that absolutely no caulk was used in and around that hole. I bought a brand new stainless bolt/nut, slathered it and the hole with marine caulk, and re-installed it. I think the problem is resolved.
