Volvo manual says do not step or stand on the engine.Have seen this done numerous times. Good/bad?

interesting. Then Volvo guys at the rendezvous have said that standing on the main cover of my D4 is fine. There are fragile parts along the edges, so i avoid them.

When we had our factory delivery experience in December, Tim told us standing on top of the D6 was ok, being careful to stand only on the main top structure and not touching any of the hoses or systems on the sides. Also, when we later had a Volvo tech doing an engine check he stood on the top as well.

I concur that standing on the metal middle section is OK. I was informed at delivery and our initial testing by the Volvo mechanics that it was OK to step on that middle section on both our D-3 and then on our D-4. I have consistently done so with no known adverse consequences. To jump from side to side while working with the engine hatch open would be far more dangerous in my opinion.

+1 Volvo techs have said it is OK on the main cover/central part. Avoid the sides, turbo, etc.
