Since I bought my 2012 R21 I have had a starting issue. Right now it appears that it could be battery related.
Batteries sitting at 12.5 v but it won't turn over with key, but will if I use a remote starter sw from the solenoid.
If I run the boat for a bit it starts with the switch, so it could be a bad cell in the starting battery, draining while it sits for awhile.
My question is this, can I use a pure starting battery in place of a dual battery for my staring circuit. I am not sure how the ACR's will react to that. Any thoughts.

I read about jumping the ACR = I want to try that next.

It is unlikely to be a battery issue at 12.5 volts. More likely is s bad connection between the battery, the switch, and the solenoid .

+1 on bad connection on key wiring. but also check the main power cables from the battery to the starter. remove, clean and reinstall.

I didn't mention that the starter switch has been changed, the neutral switch jumpered out, the starter changed (so the wires cleaned and retighten, Battery wires pulled, cleaned, ACR wires pulled and cleaned. And I agree that there could be a bad connection somewhere between the switch and solenoid - but if you meter the solenoid there is 12 volts there when you turn the key, and there is no wiring diagram for the R21. So I have a pigtail on the solenoid and if I connect a remote starter sw between the pigtail and a pos terminal on the battery , hit the remote starter and she cranks right over, We thought we had it licked last summer after changing the starter and sw but when the fall came and the boat sat for 2 or 3 weeks, it would not start again with the switch but would start with the remote switch. Having had 2 boat mechanics look at it we are at a loss, So a battery is next. Can I just use a starting battery (Higher amps no deep cycle) and leave the other 3 (house,AC & pump) deep cycle or might that starting battery cause other issues. BTW This boat is absolutely great so if this is my only issue I will live with it. It was like this when I bought it at Wefing in Fl (2015) and they didn;t have clue.

Also, I've given up on a dedicated starter battery. Space, weight, and reserve amperage is at such a premium on this boat that a spent less than $50 on a lithium emergency starter battery. My batteries are combined into a house bank. Should I ever drain it I have a simple backup plan that's a much more efficient use of resources.

Ah, I see your R-21 is an EC. You may have a different switch.
