Waggoner Guide has posted a handy chart that tracks the status of many regional boating facilities in the Pacific Northwest. Thank you Waggoner Guide for keeping up on this. Thank you Bruce for sharing.

I wonder how boaters are interpreting the "Essential Travel Only" mandate currently in place in Washington State. I would argue that pleasure boating is "essential," however I believe our governor would disagree! 🙂

One of our neighbors is a Coastie and he's told me that The Coast Guard has no plans to stop boaters to see if they are violating the "stay at home" mandate. He advises that if a pleasure boater gets in trouble, he/she could tie up valuable first responder resources during a time of national emergency. Let alone the possibility of needing a hospital bed! (The LAST place on the planet I want to be right now!)

Alas, we are staying in port until the mandate is lifted. If nothing else, for us it's a small sacrifice on our part in order to show respect to our brave doctors, nurses and first responders.

I found a mountain bike in the bushes near my home and called the county sheriff. It was not reported stolen and was only a $250 dollar bike. They would not come out unless it was an expensive bike and suggested it belonged to a transit so I left it there. I am also guessing the State Patrol is not stopping speeders unless it is a high speed as they do not want to come into contact with others.

the speed of travel on i5 in seattle has dramatically increased. not just because of traffic reduction but people are willing to go 70+ in the 60 again. its like we are back in CA.

I do still see cops out occasionally but definitely less than before.

and in CA we are now doing 80. I live in Davis, near Sacramento, and the boat is in San Francisco. No lie, took an hour to get there. Yea, maybe I broke the law, but everyone else was and I was not the fastest rabbit!

I really hope they open up the border. We so look forward to our month or so in the PNW every year in narrow window those folks call "summer".

We are seeing more people on the road here in the Salt Lake City area, increased speeding (police are seeing this also and complaining) but don't want to pull anyone over!
Not a good sign for folks to disregard the law knowing the police won't stop them!

Governor has opened the 43 state parks in Utah.
Some are marine parks and others normal camping type.
A few exceptions with local health depts. keeping them closed.
Finally a move in the right direction.
Hopefully PNW parks and marinas will open soon.
Federal parks and recreational areas still remain closed.
Bill
