Any recommendation for a brand and/or model of a steering wheel knob? Thank you.

Thank you fellows. I am going to order this steering knob. Happy NYE.

After pricing knobs at West Marine ($125 +), and thinking what that knob would do to my chest if I hit a large wake, etc., I decided on this. Lanyard in my Album.

I just got a used CW28 and was interest in the +/- of having a wheel knob? In what situation would it be helpful?

I believe in docking an inboard...when you need to be able to turn the rudder from fully one side to the other quickly

I have the same one from Amazon on my R-23 and it makes all the difference in the world. I mounted it with the knob on the inside not the outside edge so there was no reduction in legroom.

I have that knob and it works and looks great. I keep mine just a bit loose as I find that space between the chair and steering wheel is tight and the knob will sometimes hit my leg. When underway I flit the knob inward to prevent this.

kkassahn, how do you mount the knob on the inside?

I used a similar knob...removed it from the provided grip ring and used the through stud to mount to the spokes of the R23 wheel. I fashioned a "sandwich" using large fender washers and slightly rolling the edges to prevent it from moving on the spokes.
Being inboard from the rim prevents knuckle busti g and belly rubbing. It also provides a smaller radius and faster response.

Submariner had a great one on his blog, I believe it's posted in the thread above --

I use the same one.
