We bought our 2018 R23 used and it did not come with the flag pole/staff for the stern. It looks like the mount is for a 1” pole, but can anyone confirm? Also, about what length should it be? Anybody with a factory pole wanna take a measurement?

The factory flagstaff on my 2019 R27OB is 1" dia. 30" long including the ball on top.

Aloha,

I recently got my C30 and have just recently dealt with this task and am also a big fan of a beautiful stern flag.

Our boat came with a Stainless Steel 1” staff, but only had the ability to fly a 12” wide ensign because the eyes were welded 12” apart. So I bought a 1” x 30” teak staff from defender, and added the screw in eyelets and fly a 20” x 30” US Yacht ensign. (see photo) The recommended ensign size for small boats (not official) is 1” per foot of boat. I probably should have used a 36” staff, but I didn’t want it in the way of our swim platform.

Long and short of it, the staff is 1” diameter by 30” and holds a 20” x 30” ensign well with out looking too small or too big.
Caveat - We don’t have an outboard, and have a slightly longer boat.

Good luck

The R-23 flagstaff is 1” in diameter, 30” long, with eyelets spaced 12” apart. A 12” x 18” flag is the appropriate size for an R-23.
