After a three day fishing trip I was doing a deep wash of my 2013 R25SC when I heard a loud noise towards the stern. The stern thruster had automatically turned on and appeared to be pushing water in both directions. It ran steady for a minute, sputtered a few times then stopped. I ran the hose in the cockpit and after a minute the stern thruster started again. Has anyone experienced this before and/or have an explanation? Thanks,

Sean

You will find quite a few comments in Tugnuts about similar experiences. It generally means that saltwater had gotten into the thruster housing and it is shorting out and needs to be replaced. Be sure to check your weep holes to be sure the water is exiting the area of the thruster. There have been less severe corroding issues that also may cause what you experienced. I have a 2008 25 and I am on my third stern thruster. Ranger Tug has been most helpful in addressing this issue with me. Kudos to Andrew, Kenny, Marco and the gang.

Thank you for the response.
