What are folks using to store spare parts, consumables, and the various things we all keep on board? I am looking for some bins that I can use to store items in the cockpit lockers on my R31. Many thanks!

We have an R-27 so the sizes will vary, but I use closed top Rubbermaid for things to keep dry and milk crates for things that can get wet. We also use the under bed bins in the cave and store them side by side and on top of each other. I have them numbered and an inventory (by bin and alphabetical) of what is in each bin so I do not have to keep search when I need an item.

Now Mike, that is what I call organization!

Check out ebags.com, travel accessories, packing cubes. We use the Rubermaid containers in the cave on our R-29 and the mesh packing cubes for clothes and other goodies inside the containers. They have a ton of packing aids on ebags. Carolyn organizes everything because I am a hopeless slob. My tool kit looks like the jungle!

With a previous much larger boat I used to use to use some Rubbermaid foam tool boxes. Unfortunately they are no longer made. But... Stanley makes a similar item. Here it is on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-028001L-2 ... 9TN67AMWSY

The really nice thing about using the tool box is the handle is on the top and makes it easier to lift them out as stuff gets packed around them. The Rubbermaid ones were waterproof and it appears the Stanley ones are too.

We also give 2 huge thumbs up toe the ebags packing cubes. They make one that fits the little shelf in the berth on our 21. It is held in place by the hull even in rough water.

Thanks everyone!
