Hi, does anyone at Ranger Tugs know what (if anything) is under the starboard storage locker floor in the cockpit of a 2012 R27? Water is pooling under that floor as evidenced by water coming up the aft drain while on the hard. It appears that space under the floor is not draining thru the drain hole cut adjacent to the main seacock. Please see this thread for pictures and a short discussion of the issue: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19394

Winter is approaching here in the North East and before deciding whether to open up that space to drain it, I want to know if there is gear, wiring, hoses, etc. that may be of consequence to a 4 inch hole saw.

Thank you!

Gary

Is there anyway to get a camera probe into that area, fir a visual?

I tried scoping it but its extremely difficult to manipulate the probe wire which is fairly stiff, and the drain opening is at the back of the locker under the cockpit floor, behind the trim tab pump and amidst a tangle of wires, auto helm hoses, inverter cables, transducer wire, etc. Its a job for Mr. Fantastic (the rubber guy) from the Fantastic Four. Hello Ranger Tugs personnel! Does anyone have a response to my original question about objects under the starboard cockpit locker? Thank you in advance. Gary

Hi GaylesFaerie,

I believe that all that would be under the wood panel is the portion of the stringer that supports it. (the stringer is the same piece of f/g that also has the large supports etc. for the engine mounts and such). I suspect that something has filled up the channel over the years and is keeping the water from reaching the limber holes that you pointed out lower in the bilge. I know it's a bit of a pain, but you're on the right track with your scope, as that should be what will help you most in finding the clog. Not sure about the 27 from 2012, but some of our newer boats do have drain tubes that are adhered to the stringer that help bring water to the limber holes. If that is the case, you will find it by continuing to look with your scope. Perseverance is the key here. One last thing, the wooden boards in the lazarettes are usually screwed into place. Not sure how much access there is on yours to reach those screws, but if you can find them all to be able to remove the board, you can then have access to pretty much the whole area and should be able to find the clog. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ralf
