Stuck Ski Pylon

Hello Tugnuts!! First post for me and have a question about properly extending my ski pylon.

Just got a 2020 c242 coupe - Sand Dragon and I'm so impressed already. Learning the boat still and one issue is the ski pylon won't release and pop up. What is the proper release sequence for the ski pylon? It looks a bit corroded so the pylon won't push down nor will the tab on the starboard side move in or out. Don't wont to start forcing things in the wrong direction and break anything.

Went to the Sidney boat show and tried the ski pylon on a new cutwater and now know the release sequence. Mine ins still stuck though. Any tips on getting it freed up?

If it has been pushed down past the detent it can be very hard to get up. I have freed a couple of them by using WD40 sprayed around the top and latch. If something is sticking up grab it with good size channel lock pliers and a rag as not to scar the top if possible. It is spring assisted to come up and it’s anchored in the bottom of the boat in the way back of the center storage compartment. Not sure if you can do anything there other then perhaps tapping on the outer tub with a rubber mallet. Use plenty of WD40 and let it soak some. One more thing, use a smallish flat head screwdriver and try to work the Pylon back and forth some to help the lubricant get to everything. Good luck

Ours is stuck also.
I sprayed it liberally with every solvent known to man and a year later gave up as we don't use it.
Looking into removing it permanently.
I suppose it would be valuable when towing something a short distance.

Hammer and punch, works every time!

Finally got time to get back to this. Ended up removing the whole assembly from the boat. Got it home and in the vice and hammered it using a long bolt through the hole at the bottom. Eventutally came out but very tight still. Realized the thumb slide looked like it was all the way out but when I hammered it with a punch some more it came out further. Full can of wd40 and some sanding on the post and it now slides pretty good. The thumb slide is still very stiff and needs a punch to free or lock it but I can live with that for the amount we want to use the ski pole.

The kids are going to be stoked for some ocean tubing.

I fought the thumb slide with penetrating oil for several rounds but it always eventually got stuck again. Now I just grease it when I service the outboard at the 100 hour mark. I use the overflow grease from the outboard steering tube and work it in to the thumb slide with a small detail brush. It's been sliding smoothly ever since.
