Suzuki vs Yamaha

I see some of the R23's come with a Suzuki rather than Yamaha engine. Was the Suzuki an option or the standard offering for a year or so? What are the pros and cons of the Suzuki over the Yamaha?

Hi there,

The Suzukis were installed several years ago due to Yamaha having been available in limited quantity at that time. For that time period, these engines were the standard offering. There aren't any pros and cons that one could write down without the end user making a sort of list of what he expects from their powerplant application and then picking the best motor after doing a bit of comparison. The 2.5 HP DF2.5 Suzukis weight in at 31 pounds. The 2.5 HP Yamahas F2.5 are 37 pounds. Both weights are dry for short shaft models.
Both are highly rated.
