Exploring the Columbia and Willamette from our base in St. Helens with our R-27, we are thinking about mooring in Swantown this summer and commuting when we can and just focus on the Southern water ways and next season farther north.
Is this a good idea and location and what time of year would be best.

We also have an R27 Classic and have been mooring at Swantown for several years. It is a well maintained marina, with good security, parking for your vehicle, fuel and pump out, and easy walking to the local farmers market. The only drawback is that there are no covered slips. From time to time when the winds blow our direction we get a dusting of wood debris covering the boat from the nearby log storage at the Port of Olympia. Otherwise, we enjoy access to the waters of South Sound pretty much year round. Hope Island, Jarrell Cove, McMicken Island, Penrose Point, Dockton, and Tacoma’s Foss Waterway are a few of our favorite local cruises. Hope this helps.
