We have removed the swim platform in order to repaint the hull of our newly purchased 2012 R27 and I am wondering what adhesive was used at the factory to install the platform.

Hello,

We use a urethane type of sealant similar to a 3M 4200 product. This should work fine for you reinstalling.

Thank you,

We have the blue color hull, we kept it the same color had a different color boot stripe applied we also wanted to alleviate the compounding and waxing multiple times a year that has to be done with the gel-coat. It had been in Florida for its life so it was pretty well oxidized and also had some dock rash on the starboard side that was taken care of during the process. Yes it was a big expense but we feel that we made it our own and look forward to the Tug life .. 😀

John,

Did you have this painted in Maryland? Is this the Awlgrip painting process? Ballpark cost? We keep our Tug on the Chesapeake not too far from you! Look for our green hull R31CB. Ours doesn't need refinishing, but I was curious about the details.

Thanks,
Al Sr.
