My 2017 Cutwater 242 Coupe swim platform does not have any handles to assist getting on the boat. It appears that the former owners used the swim ladder door to grab onto, as the screws to the door had been pulled loose. Does anyone have suggestions on installing a handle on either the swim platform or the back of the boat? Thanks !

I don't have any first hand knowledge of adding handles to that model....But in general, There are accessory handles available at a lot of Marine stores. If you know the are a you would like to put it, just purchase the correct length. Next, make sure you put large, thick backing plates (or just one and pick up all the fasteners) at the fastener location. If there isn't a handle there - the fiberglass layup in that area probably isn't heavy enough to support a handle with a full size person hanging off of it. When it come to backing plates, bigger is better. This could be done with epoxy coated marine plywood, or one of the more modern materials that will never rot and provide adequate strength.

Best of luck!!

Hello,

If you go to our website for Cutwater, cutwaterboats.com, and look at the new C24CW we do add grab rails on the sides of the transom for getting out or in the water. You can order these direct via parts@rangertugs.com. Hope this helps!!

Thanks,
