I wanted a railing on our swim platform. If there are others looking for a railing, I found mine on Ebay, if you search 2075561, you should find the "Harris Kayot Cayman Stainless Steel Boat Safety Grab Rail" price, $271.95 with free shipping. The mounting threads were not long enough to go through the platform. I drilled a pilot hole and then used wood bits to make a large hole to countersink the lock nut, under the platform. I had to move the swim ladder and the dinghy mounts but it all works better now. See photos in my album. Dinghy seems to ride better, against the railing and the railing sure makes getting on / off the dinghy easy.

A little too late, but if someone else does it a router with a template and guide for the recess hole may be an easier way to do it.
Looks good. How long are the threaded studs and if I read the diagram correctly does the return from the rear face of the swim platform come to a total of 9-3/4"?

If you go here you will see a diagram with all the dimensions of the railing. Price is lower here until you add shipping. But a good deal if you live near Racine, WI.

Looks like the threaded ends are 1.75" long.

I don't know if your swim platform has a wooden core. If it does I would drill oversized holes under cut the wood under the fiberglass with a Dremel tool cutter. Then fill with epoxy and let that cure then drill holes into the epoxy so that the wooden core stays protected. JMHO
