Tableware Storage Solutions on your Ranger Tugs

I'm be interested to hear about your innovative and creative solutions are for galley storage for tableware. We are headed to the Boston Boat Show and we get a lot of questions on this. Do you have solutions you'd like to share? Photos? We'd love to know what really works.

We added a teak dishrack to the bulkhead above the stove. It stores 4 full size plates, 4 salad plates, 4 coffee cups, a bottle of wine, and small salt n pepper shakers.

The stovetop cutting board makes a great flat surface to work on when not using the stovetop, but must remember to take it off when using the oven.

it was pointed out correctly that paper towels over the stove was a safety hazard, and will be removed next time on the boat.

I will also throw in a plug for Corelle (http://www.corelle.com) dishes in general on a boat. I hate using plastic because it scratches up after a few uses. Corelle is cheap, very strong, quite thin, very easy to clean, won't scratch, and is microwave and dishwasher safe.

Since they are so thin, they are quite easy to store without taking up much space - I can store 8-12 Corelle plates in the same area that 4-5 stoneware plates would take up.

YES they are glass and technically could shatter into some sharp pieces, but in 15 years I have never managed to break one.

Having tried to organize silverware, pots and pans, food, napkins etc. for cruising I could no longer deal with the cabinets on my R25sc. The battle to organize the contents and still have good access became too frustrating. This year I cut out the cabinet adjacent to the ref. and replaced it with a 3 drawer stack. The top drawer has a drawer within a drawer (imagine a short drawer above a larger drawer but behind the same drawer face) that is specifically built to fit a rubber made silverware insert. The silverware now resides there and I love it. It is installed but waiting for teak drawer faces. I will post photos after it is completed on Swims with Tuna's photo album.

Corelle! Specifically, the square sets, which fit very well into cabinets.

Square tableware is great! We also use various size square and rectangular "Tupperware" containers to contain all our foodstuffs in the cupboards. Each is labelled on the top and the end facing the aisle. One for spices and condiments, one for baking goods like flour, sugar, etc., one for beverage makings, etc. we can quickly slide what we need in and out even if it is on the "bottom" and there is nothing lost and out of sight at the back.

We look forward to Swims with Tuna's pictures of your cabinet redo. I made a 3-partition flexible pouch for silverware that fits snugly under the "spice rack" behind the sink, but the drawer within a drawer concept is intriguing.
