We have been aboard a brand new Ranger 27 tug with the Teak and Holly Foam Traction Decking. My wife noticed that the decking is already showing signs of wear, even though it is still brand new and sitting on a dealer's lot!

Are you happy with yours? We are considering ordering a new boat but asking Ranger NOT to install the decking. Fiberglass non skid holds up just fine. What are your thoughts about the foam decking?

Grateful for your replies...

I put the Raptor teak and holly foam decking on our C28. It lasted a little less than 2 years before it started coming up on the swim platform, and now in the cockpit. We're in Virginia. It was buckling up from the heat this summer. Overall I am very disappointed with it as far as how well it has, or hasn't, held up. It feels great to walk on, and looked good initially, but now I'm about ready to take it all up and potentially replace with the Corinthian marine carpeting. There are a lot of threads on this topic, but here is one that helped push me to the Corinthian.

I’m in the northwest. Had the raptordeck installed separately but no issues. From other posts sounds like it’s a heat issue

The heat definitely didn't help. On our swim platform I think the issue was compounded by water getting under it.

Our Raptor decking is 4 years old and holding up great. Wouldn't have the boat without it. We're also fairly abusive on the decking with crab pots, shrimp pots, and 3 dogs on board. It cleans up easy too. A little soap, a brush... swab the deck and rinse. The factory installed the cockpit decking. I later purchased the pieces directly from Raptor for the transom and put those on myself. Makes the boat look sharp.

I installed the teak and holly Raptor decking about 2 years ago and also would not have a boat without it. Installation was easy and there have been no issues with it coming up. It’s showing some signs of wear, but that’s to be expected with using a boat and having a large dog.

Might I suggest Plasdeck. It's more like vinyl flooring, very tough.

Installed Raptor deck in the cockpit of my 2011 R29. I'm in NC so plenty of heat in the summer. I've had no issues what so ever. I can see signs of very minimal shrinkage but all my edges are firmly in place.
