Sitting here thinking of ways to better utilize space and would like to know what others have done on the wall to the right of the stove on their R-27 Classics. I have a stainless backsplash that rises about 12 inches above the top of the stove but there is about 24" of blank wall space above that.

I'm thinking maybe a nice teak rack/shelf unit that is 2-3" deep.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mark

Go to Defenders for ideas. I placed a dish and cup holder above the SS splash panel, then above that place a spice/paper towel holder. Note the paper towel holder will only accept small roles (Viva brand) I also placed some aluminum foil tape under the dish holder as the bottom of the rack gets hot from the stove. I also glued some 1/2" PVC tubing to hold a butane lighter for barbeque for the stove as the pizio starter kept killing batteries and never could get the oven lite with the pizio starter. I varnished the teak to the cooking grease will not stick.

Thanks Alice,

All great ideas. I would have never considered varnishing the teak but in the light of cooking grease it makes perfect sense - THANKS!

Take a look at the cabinets that Bryan built for Red Fury. viewtopic.php?f=24&t=12669

They are on my project list. I've found that using good quality maple plywood with a teak stain matches the teak just about perfectly.

For some additional galley ideas see our photo album under “Red Raven Modifications”.

Wow. The cabinets for Red Fury and Red Raven look great. Also love the iPad holder Curt. It's now on my list as well.
