Technodrive transmission filter

How is the technodrive transmission oil filter removed on the QSD 2.0L engine? I removed the wing-nut, but see no way to extract filter. Does it screw off the threaded rod, push off, or by some other means I can not see? This is on a 2009 RT.

I believe, based on the drawings of the unit in the manual, that it is a compression seal that is expanded by the wing nut. The idea is to loosen the wing nut, but not take it off, and then pull and work it until the seal lets go of the bore. It should pull straight out. Page 8A-7 in the manual. I am going by the manual, have not done it yet, so maybe someone who has can add to this.
