The head has developed two issues: 1) Sensor light registers Full (Red) all the time, even after a pump out, and 2) loud grinding noise during every flush. Both sensor are attached to the waster water tank. In the past, after a pump out the red light would go out and the green goes on after underway for a bit. Now (after about a year old) it the red light stays on. Also, during the past month, there is a loud grinding noise during each flush. Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance.

Tecma head only about 20 months old.
Thanks.

Seems like you are experiencing the same issue another poster just mentioned, with the macerator pump motor bearing failing. It's tecma part 36750 to replace it. Regarding the sensors, check for loose connections and make sure they are firmly stuck to the tank...worst case you need to replace those as well.

Gary,

I am experiencing the same issue. Was wondering if you found the problem. I have filled toilet with water using a hose around 20 times in hopes it was just something stuck on a sensor in the drain. Let me know if you solved this. My boat is a 2025 Ranger Tug R31

Gary:

We had the same issue, it’s being fixed as a warranty issue with a different kind of sensor being installed this week. As a work around while our dealer was discussing the issue with the factory, the top sensor was disconnected which stopped the dreaded red light and subsequent lock out on the toilet.

Okay. Well I looked under bed and both sensors are visible and connected to tank and the wiring all looked good. Mine will flush but will not add water.

You say it won’t add water but flushes.
The head on a r31 is the only Ranger tugs with fresh water head. So the fresh water pump needs to be turned on. I hope it’s as simple as that.

We had to pull the fuse and do a reset one time too when the gauge was acting up.

I have a 2018 R-29CB; I am on my third pump. I got a new one at Marine Sanitation and Supply next to Fisheries, and I am now back to a quieter flush.

I think there is an issue with the design of the seal system on the pumps? i have a 2019, I replaced the pump 1.5 - 2 years ago with one that a fellow member had and that replacement pump is now having the same issue again? I wonder if there is a way to extend the service life expectancy past a 2 year window?

I am laughing as I write this but, do we fill up the toilet with some kind of oil every 2 months to try and stop these bearing surfaces from rotting out? it seems to me that they should really last longer than what we are seeing? is that just par for the course or do other members see longer life spans on their toilets?

I too have a the noisy flush conundrum happening again?

My second Tecma also started having the noisy flush about 18 months in. We were going to Desolation Sound so I swapped it out with a Dometic before it could fail. The Easy Fit is discontinued, so hopefully the new model is better!
