Hi all,
Our macerator pump for our Tecma toilet bit the dust, and I am in the process of replacing it. Since it comes with a discharge Gromit, I went to pull the old one off the toilet discharge and realized there was a gray material somewhat between a putty and a caulk between the grommet and the porcelain discharge. Took it both to a marine supply store and hardware store and neither could tell exactly what it was. Will try Marine Sanitation Supply , and Thetford, on Monday.

Any ideas? if you’ve done this, what did you use to seal the Gromit to the porcelain discharge?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike:

Never did this type of repair but….I bet the gray material is Bed-It butyl tape. I use Bed-It extensively on our boat and it looks just like the picture above.

Thanks for the reply, Mike. I may give that a try. If I find out what Thetford or Ranger Tugs used for this, I will follow this post up with an update.

Could be plumber's putty, used to seal sink drains.
