Tecma Toilet Removal R29 Classic

I need to replace the pump/macerator. Looking at the toilet and considering the small working space, can anyone whose experienced this repair enlighten me on how to remove the toilet to get access to the pump?

Hi Bob: I had experience removing the toilet on a classic R27 to replace the macerator pump, not sure how similar the 2 are but I’ll provide my experience. On the R27 Classic there are 4 bolts at the base of the toilet that I removed to be able to lift the toilet up to gain access to the underside of the toilet bowl. Of course I removed the water line hose and discharge hose on the, in my case, the lower and behind right...as you’re facing the toilet. Once the toilet is free you can then unscrew the old macerator n replace. Be ready for a lot of cleaning up.

I'm going to assume that the mounting installation is the same as my C26. I had to replace the duck bill valve in the head. it was tight quarters as you stated. The head was mounted by 4 1/4" lag bolts screwed into a board that was glassed in place during the liner lay up. The removal of the 4 lags helped gain access. I was able to then remove discharge waste hose and water inlet hose. If at all possible try flushing the head with fresh water multiple times to get clean water in the hose. When you remove the hoses you will have waste water drain out. I was able to flush repeatably and when I removed the hose I had about a 1/2 gallon of water drain out and directed it to the shower drain. It would be messy if it is not clean water. After the head is removed it is easier to work on it out of the head area for disassembly. I purchased a complete rebuild kit replaced the duck bill valve, seals and gaskets, I removed the pump because I switched to fresh water flush and resealed the macerator shaft/blade.

How many electrical connections did you have to break in order to get access? it seems like there could be several quick disconnects that will need to be disconnected in order to move the toilet enough to gain access to the pump. At least in the tight quarters of the R29.

Two 12ga with butt connectors. I cut the connection at the connector and made a new connection using bullet connectors for future removals.
