What is the recommended tender and outboard for my 8'6" beam Ranger Tug. I see so many choices, I'd like your expert opinion. Thanks

Hi Barko,

We recommend a 260 sized dinghy. The dinghy we supply with new boats is 8' 6" in width approximately, which is essentially the same as the width of the boat. Going any larger will affect rearward visibility, docking, and would potentially be too wide for trailering without an oversize load permit. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ralf

We have the 2013 R25sc and we use the Portland Pudgy dinghy. We had a Torqeedo electric motor on it but have switched to the ePropulsion electric.
The dinghy is rather heavy so I use a small pulley block system to swivel it upright when it's clipped to the davits. We don't trailer anymore, but when we did, it stayed on the davits while trailering. We trailered it from Whitehorse to Ladysmith this way.

We have a 2010 R25 SC and have the walker Bay RID 275 with a Travel 1003 Torqeedo electric outboard. Works like a charm. The boat mounts to the swim step or can easily be towed when underway. I can lift the dinghy on my own, as there is a wheel along the keel towards the stern. Very stable and easy in/out, even for the ones (aka my wife) that don't have great balance.

Unfortunately, Walker Bay no longer makes these and one must get them used.

I would highly recommend.

Have a WB8 with the "RIB" ring for the kids to sail around in, but chose a 7.5' inflatable from Aquamarine (BC) for simplicity and light weight. http://www.aquamarineboat.com/index.php?mode=prod&id=430 Mounted standard Weaver Davits & standoffs. Cheap, does the job, just using oars. Perfect for a C26 but I'll probably raise it a bit to avoid the low-speed wash issue.
