Just took ownership of our R27 last month and love it! Searching for a hard shell tender, any recommendations or advice? Thanks!

There really is no perfect tender, imho. Around here everyone’s tenders get pulled up onto the beach and live their lives between the beach or tied to a mooring in the chuck. So having wheels of some sort is a must. In our search for a tender we quickly found that they are all relatively heavy when it comes to schlepping them any distance. I don’t recall the exact weights now but the Walker Bays were all around 70+ lbs, the hard floored inflatables at least the same weight, etc.

We finally settled on a BIC Sportyak 245. It has integrated rear wheels and carries two of us and two dogs back and forth. We have a saltwater version electric motor on it and so far no regrets with the set up. Perfect? No, but we haven’t seen or learned of any better tenders for our application. Good luck with the search.

Thank you! We've only had smaller boats for the lakes and are now ready to venture out. I was trying to figure out the best way to reach shore if/when we just pull into a nice little cove. Never thought about a kayak! Thanks again!

We have an eight year old 8'6" West Marine slat floor PVC inflatable. Thinking about an eventual replacement and have heard great things about the Portland Pudgy. A bit pricey new though so hoping to find a good used one in the PNW a year or two.

Might want to look into inflatable kayaks from kaboats.com
