Hi tugnuts,

Long story short – end of September saw R-31 “Sea Fox” docking at the guest moorage in Edmonds marina. Stopped by to chat with the owners, super nice couple, told me all about their beautiful tug. At the end of our conversation, the owner asked ‘did you talk to Andrew? Go down to Kent and chat with him!’… So here I am 5 months later, took the plunge and getting ready to go and learn all I can from Tim during the factory delivery experience. As with all newbies, this is overwhelming and I want to kindly ask your advice what to pay attention to and questions you wanted to ask during factory training but forgot 😀 So much to learn!
Looking forward to getting in touch with the awesome tugnuts family and meeting you all at the rendezvous and marinas!

Best Regards,
Alex & Helen

Congratulations!
Welcome to the Family!! You will love the new boat.
So..Finish the story. What color? What model? Where are you going to keep it, and what are your boating plans???

Hint - Take Phone video ansd a lot of notes during the delivery experience. We refereed to ours a lot the first year or longer.

Rocky

Thank you @Rocky, much appreciated and thanks for the hints!
Just read your Cerise blog/Orientation Days, great information and what a beautiful tug you have! I see you keep her at La Conner, tried to get in there but no avail... Getting a slip turned out to be quite a challenge as pretty much nothing available anywhere, some remote places on the peninsula but it will take hours to get there from my place. So for now I'm planning Everett, easy jump to the Islands and South Puget Sound. If stars align (and Canada opens its borders) then we'll definitely be there for all events and happenings and go up north to Alaska but for now we are planning to discover the Puget Sound and local marinas. And the tug we are getting is R-31S, we'll see if I can set it up for tele commuting and switch from home office to boat office 😀

Congratulations on your new R31 and welcome to the family. I’d suggest paying a lot of attention to the electrical part of the orientation.....shore power, inverter/charger, generator, turning things on/off sequencing, etc. If you have 2 people at orientation consider videoing parts you feel are important to you. Above all take it one thing at a time and you’ll be over the learning curve in no time. In the mean time ask questions on Tugnuts when things pop up you don’t have the answer for, there are no bad or silly questions.

Congrats on the new boat! My advice is use whatever device you have (phone, iPad, etc.) to record as much as you can of the delivery. We did that and our videos have proved to be a big help because we either forgot things or missed some things as there is so much information to take in during the delivery process. We have had the boat for over a year and are still watching the videos!

Hope to see you on the water!

Congratulations on your R31 Alex and Helen.
We keep our r27 in covered moorage in Everett. We have a R31 CB on order for delivery in June. We just found out they have a new slip for us starting April 1st. So we will move into the bigger slip till the 31 is ready.
Did you get on a wait list in Everett? As of a few weeks ago it expected to be less than 6 months but that will change the longer you wait. We waited much shorter than that.
What color is your R31 S? It would be fun hear how your training goes.
Tim, Ivan and the rest of the crew are awesome.

Thank you Jim F, Olygirl, Steve, Mike&Sarah and all!

Our boat is gray R31S and I’m second in line on the wait list for 36ft covered so it should not take long, probably no more than a couple of months. Megan from Port of Everett had me initially arranged for 32ft slip only to realize R31 is slightly longer than allowed so a bit of setback but totally my oversight. Today actually I saw an ad on craigslist for a boathouse for rent at the Everett marina and called the owner. Unfortunately it is only available for ~4months and then he is getting new boat so it won’t work for us. We also visited Breakwater marina (Tacoma) today and looked at almost new boathouse they listed for sale but it’s too far from our place, an hour and a half of driving and 405/I-5 traffic can be brutal.
@Mike and Sarah – congrats on your R31CB order, only 3 short months left and the time flies by! For us - having experienced neighbors is great so we can learn new skills and tricks! 😀
We will make sure to take lots of videos, sounds like it’s invaluable experience and great help/reference for the future.
Thank you friends again for all your advices, recommendations, and wishes, we truly appreciate it!

Best Regards,
Alex and Helen
