As NEW OWNER my red R21 has duly arrived and is sitting in the water after the long voyage from Seattle to Western Australia. It's been quite a journey organising shipping and surviving customs and quarantine on Fremantle wharf. All went well and in due course I towed the boat the 50 miles south to the waters of Mandurah Estuary and waterways. As many had foreshadowed it has provoked comment at every turn and my wife and I are delighted with its suitability. Last weekend was our official unveiling of "Queen Bess" to friends and family and it was marked with traditional champagne wetting of the bow. (no glass in the canal please!) [Coincidently two others of our canal estate have just launched matching home built "Sweet Sixteen" tugs. One came into our canal to salute our event with some appropriate tooting. Some of you may be familiar with the Sweet Sixteen which is built to a U.S. designer's plans.]
So now we've plenty of local exploring to do before we venture with it to other waterways in this south west region. It's great to be part of the tugging community.
