A couple of months ago, Bruce Moore sent me a copy of an article on a new business in Poulsbo. It was on a company named "The Marine Exchange". It is a new and consignment store for boat parts and hardware. It is now located in the old Kayak Store on the water in Poulsbo.

A couple of weeks ago, I took all of the boat parts that had been laying around the garage into them. I was very surprised when they asked me what I wanted to sell them for (price) and they told me I was too low!!!! Love to be told I am selling something to cheap!!! Anyway, got a call from the nice lady that works there today. She wanted to let me know that they had sold about a third of what I brought in and they had a check for a $1,000 waiting for me!

If you are a true boater.... you too have numerous boat parts just laying around that you will never use again! I would suggest that you take them into these folks and let them get them out of your garage. I purchased the block and tackle setup for launching my dinghy here. It cost me a total of $35.00. New, this would have been a two hundred dollar bill! (I like to sell high and buy low!)

Bob, I would haul that old radar unit you have in your garage over to these folks. They had one when I was in there and said they actually sell very well.

I know a number of you have replaced your claw anchors with a new Rocna. This would be a great place to unload that old claw. They had no anchors in stock when I was in there.

Their charge is a 30% consignment fee. Yes you could pocket that cash if you sold it yourself, however then you have to deal with selling it..... they will do that for you! And at 30% they are going to make sure you get the highest price possible out of everything you take in!

A good example of what they can do, I tried to sell the original wheel off of Karma for $125.00 on Tugnuts. They told me to mark it at $225.00 and it sold! I pocketed $158.00 instead of $125.00!

Now with this "extra" money, I can go buy more boat parts! What a vicious cycle!

David is such a wheeler dealer. I wish I had some stuff to sell! Here's the article in Three Sheets Northwest, a great blog for boaters in this region.

Hmmm, maybe I should get rid of my grill, the one with two settings - Off, and High (no matter what it says on the dial).

Cheers
