I reviewed the new R25's design today at the Seattle Boat show. Andrew was there to tell me all about it -- very nice also. I told Andrew to stop improving the R25... 😉

No matter, with the extra cockpit length the step just inside the cabin is different in that it no longer has the lid to get at the oil stick etc. With this design I'm wonder if the cabin engine noise has been reduced as a reselt.

Can the factor person respond to this I wonder ? Thanks....

With this newly designed R25 SC, yes the noise has made a difference. By having the engine further from the cabin we thought it made a big difference on our first test. I did not do a decibel reading to confirm the difference.

Had it been me creating a fisherman model, I would have extended the transom, leaving all other dimensions the same...
This would require new molds for both hull and deck ($$), but the additional fiberglass to build each hull would be minimal cost...
You would have picked up a bit of fuel efficiency due to longer waterline and maybe a knot on top speed...
By leaving the R25 cabin original length you still get the improved soundproofing of moving the engine back...
You have more tankage and/or storage space..
You get a much bigger cockpit, that when covered in canvas gives you great living space...
This gives you models at 16 / 19 /21 / 25 / 27 / 29... At which point, you become a major force in the under a quarter million dollar, boat wars...
I would have priced the R27 aggressively, holding the price increase to the absolute minimum possible, knowing this will become my best selling model...
But, shucks what do I know - I've only built two boats and you guys pop em out like muffins from the oven...

cheers Andrew ...

To add to your suggestion, while we're wishing. Grow the R21EC to around 23 feet. Fit a head in the rear of the cockpit in the storage area in front of the fuel tank with a drop down canvas surround. And put the additional length in the cabin for, more storage, a nav table (folding), space for a larger charteplotter, etc. While we're at it, increase the beam correspondingly. 😀 😀

I like your ideas Denny O. Bruce Moore will be posting a video of the newly designed R25SC sometime soon on the tugnuts for you to view. I think you might be on to something Denny. I will put my keyboard to rest now. 😀

Add about 25 feet to the R-29, and increase the beam by 6 feet. Leave the price where it is. You would sell a ton of them!

Sign me up for hull number one on that model.........

Careful what you wish for David! You know we will!

Hull Number 13 you mean!

If we take hull number 13 again..... does that mean we have to wait until Friday the 13th to launch again?

So where are the pictures? I won't believe it exists until I see them.

I posted a video in the forum, here, and a larger version on YouTube, here.

Cheers

Thanks for the great video and pictures.

I started off jealous of the new design. Love the swimstep, especially the better located and protected swim ladder. Want to ask Jeff if I can retrofit our 2009 R-25. Love the ability to open the engine hatch with out first closing the cabin door.

But I prefer my extra space inside the cabin and prefer the easy wide access to the "cave" by lifting the chart table when I store two folding bikes and other stuff. 😀

I love my R25! Guess I still have to wait till I can afford the 29....
