Check out this wonderful account of Ken and Jean and their R-29 Puddle Duck, over on the Ranger Tugs site. After 40 years of not boating they decided to "stimulate our minds, bodies, and social interactions." They bought the tug, and set out to learn how to cruise - by going from Toronto to Florida this fall!

Congratulations on your maiden voyage. You are to be commended for you adventuress spirit!

Great story and an inspiration for those of who never sail far from home.

Wonderful story, thanks for sharing.

WOW, what a great story and great adventure! Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thank you so much for sharing your adventure.. Hope you keep us updated on your travels . I really appreciate your accounting at the end as answers a lot of questions I had. Sure helps me realize that age is just a number 🙂

What a great account. We have a 29 as well and the boat is just wonderful -- our 5th boat and this one is for sure a keeper.

On behalf of our pride and joy - The Puddle Duck - many thanks for the complements you have paid us .We will be hanging around the Sunset Bay Marina in Stuart throughout the winter months before heading back North in the Spring .Our plans include a visit to the west coast through Lake Okeechobee and if everything turns out a week to ten days in the Bahamas. Would be more than happy to catch up with fellow Tugnutters in our neighbourhood or to answer any questions you may have regarding our adventure . Please remember however that we are " Newbies + 2300 miles and we are still on a steep learning curve !!!!!!! Ken and Jean

Ken & Jean: What an excellent story of your first long journey in the R-29. I read every word and enjoyed it all. Congratulations on making the time and effort for such a maiden voyage. Keep enjoying the boating life style. We have the R-25 and it's our first boat and enjoy it very much. So far 1st mate and I find it comfortable for our cruises in the PNW area. Maybe later on we might venture with a trade up to the R-29 which many Ranger Tug owners seem to be doing these days... and that tells a story all by itself... 🙂

Thanks again for posting.

Ken and Jean;
Congratulations on a great first voyage!! We all commend you for your enthusiasm and spirit! The Rangers are truly wonderful boats and as an owner we cannot help but feel the same excitement. Thank you for sharing your travels.
