Sometimes (usually when just floating around, but perhaps that is only when it is quiet enough to hear it), I will hear a ticking sound from the floor of our v-berth (R23). I investigated it and removed the step that covers the shower sump and isolated the ticking as coming from the shower sump. Sometimes it gets faster or slower, and often (including when sitting on the trailer) it stops entirely.

I took the sump cover off and took out the pump and made sure it was all clean. I ran some water down the shower drain and the sump correctly kicked on and pumped out the water (so the sensor and the motor both seem to be working fine).

So my question is: what would cause this ticking sound? What else should I check?

In my case I heard the ticking sound coming from the shower sump area, it turned out to be the sonar transducer. When set a 50hz the sound is distinguishable and audible. However, when I changed the transducer output to 200hz the ticking can no longer be heard.

Oh! good point. That would also make a lot of sense why I dont hear it when trailered or cruising in/out of the marina (usually have a nav chart or some other display up at that time). Now I know what I am going to be testing out - thanks!
