Quick question about tire pressure on triple axle trailer for towing an R – 29.

Should the tire pressure be set to the maximum indicated on the tires? Or something lower than that?

After a 2000 mile empty trip, I had Discount Tire check the tire pressures prior to loading the boat. All the tires were set to about 10 pounds less than what was recommended on the tire itself. They brought all the pressures up to 80 pounds. Now I’m wondering if the previous owner had them set to 70 pounds on purpose. Insights?

Inflate to 80psi cold. Including spare.

Are you equppied and capable of changing a tire? If not, buy BoatUS Unlimited Gold to include your boat trailer.

On your tow, be prepared for other drivers to do stupid things such as pulling out in front of you to avoid being behind you.

Thanks for this. That’s what I have now. I’ll double check with trailer decals and the manuals.

I have a lot of experience towing long and heavy loads, although this is my first technically oversize load. Other drivers are completely inconsiderate. They don’t understand that with a total weight of around 22,000 pounds, we can’t just stop on a dime. Swerving would be catastrophic at speed. so I just drive expecting idiots to be on the road all around me. It’s going to be a tense 5 to 6 days.
