Looking for a recommendation (or checklist) of what tools and/or spare parts I should carry aboard my new R23 with 200hp Yamaha.

I don't have a list but some things that come to mind, and I am sure folks with chime in with additions:

Full set of hand tools - I carry both metric and SAE, sockets and box set, allen wrenches
Make sure to include #1 and #2 square drive bits
electric drill
Electrical tools - stripper, cutters, soldering iron, heatshrink lighter, heatshrink butt connectors
Full set of spare fuses, I need to augment this some what to include the fusible battery links
Clamp on multimeter, extra wire to extend leads
Spare prop, nut and cotter pin
Spare fuel filters (3) Cuz if you need one your gonna need more
Wiper blades
Spare set of keys, engine and door

More for sure but this is what I can remember at this point

Thanks for the list. Couple of quick questions:
*I've never had an OB. Does the Yamaha require any special tools or just the normal metric wrench assortment, etc.
*what do you use for a spare prop? The Yamaha OEM unit or is there a cost effective "get home" spare?

I would ask at a marina that services your engine to be sure what you buy will work in an emergency. Then go light and inexpensive on the prop.

Another good tool is Boat US towing insurance. It makes up for that one part or tool you may not have.

In answer to the Yamaha tool question it would depend on what you wanted to do. I don't do the maintenance as I leave that to the Yamaha dealers but changing the engine anode requires a long extension for your socket.

With regards to the prop I was able to pick up an off pitch prop for a couple hundred less than new. It would get me home but I would change it back to original as quick as possible.

A nice kicker motor will get you back to the barn (dock), where you can safely work on your boat!
As said prior, no matter what breaks it will be the one item missing from your collection!
Enjoy the ride and be safe! Bob
