We have a Torqeedo Travel 1003 electric dinghy motor that has leaked water into the lower housing and destroyed the circuit board and prop shaft. Wondering if there is anyone nearby (Vancouver Island) that would be interested in free parts? The prop is in good shape, as is the whole top end, motor mount, tiller, etc. The battery is in the recall list, but has been working fine still up to this point.
We explored doing the battery upgrade and a rebuild, but cost and availability of parts was prohibitively expensive. The lower housing plastic shows some pitting around the seal, so I'm not convinced that a new seal would be watertight . We bought a new ePopulsion Spirit motor to replace it instead.
I'd be happy to arrange pick-up or drop-off if someone nearby can use it, but not really interested in taking on shipping costs to send it across the country.

I'm a fellow 1003 owner. Curious if you had the 5 yr service accomplished. This service replaces the seals in the lower housing.

The Torqeedo motor came with our boat, so I don't know if the previous owner serviced it. We did not do the service in the 4 years that we used it. In hindsight, we obviously should have.

What do you think of the ePropulsion Spirit so far? I'm considering one as an option. Really like the idea of two separate 20 lb parts vs a single 40lb gas motor for horsing onto the dingy.
