Greetings!

This is the first of many questions as I am the new owner of a Ranger Tug R21-EC.

The area I cruise (Tampa, FL. Hillsborough River) is a very popular, high traffic boating area, and there are frequently broken down small boats looking for a tow to the next ramp or public marina.

I have now put about 20 hours on my boat, and I am getting familiar with her capabilities and limitations.

It is only a matter of time before I am hailed to render help, "can you pull me to the ramp up river?"

Who has practical advice on rendering aid? (I know to rig a bridle from the two stern eyes, and carry a 75' tow line as a matter of practice, and all of the safety protocols. I'm an experienced mariner, but this is my first inboard, non-planing hull vessel.) Does she have enough grunt to tow a similar sized vessel?

Two years ago while fishing at Sekiu,Washington. Was moored at Masons resort, the commercial charter fishing boat the Albatross, about a 35ft. Was moored one boat down from the fuel dock
When it caught fire about 3 am one morning. The Scooter a 1990 something R-21 was moored between the Albatross and the fuel dock. The Albatross was towed away from the fuel dock to a
Beach area away from other boats by this R-21 the Scooter!
By the time I got up the fire department was doing there job and every thing was under controlled.
So yes you can tow with a R-21 and render assistance when needed.
