I just sold my Ford Explorer and upgraded to a Ford Expedition with a large V8. My R-21 is not heavy, but the Expedition will handle her better in the mountains. My question is: My expedition has a built in receiver. What is the proper height you are supposed to have. Is there a way to measure or is there a rule of thumb?

Also, I need to get a flat five pin wiring harness for the Expedition. Any ideas where these are found, not a West Marine.

Thanks

Mark

Any discount auto parts store--and many Wal Marts will have the five pin flat connector. Trailer supply, and "U haul" are also sources.

Mark, jack the trailer tongue until it is level, i.e. parallel to the ground... Then measure the distance to the ground from the top of the coupler, i.e. top of the ball on the vehicle...
Now do the same for the vehicle, preferably with a ball mounted on it, but you can estimate... The difference between the two numbers is the amount of rise or fall you will need to have built into the ball mount...
