Hello All I've been outfitting my new C28 the last 2 weeks and get close to getting her wet. But I am unsure about the type of trailer tongue lock to get. Looking on line the ones I've seen don't show any dimensions. So thought someone hear has probably already gotten one for their trailer. Any recommendations? Here's a pic to make sure we're talking apples and apples. Thanks in advance.

I can see in the photo that the coupler is for use with a 2 5/6" ball. The style of your coupler looks like it is a square UFP CD-200. Most locks for this coupler use the safety pin hole like this one

or this one

I have not used a lock on our trailer which has an identical coupler (even when stored for short periods at an unsecured area) but have been thinking about getting one. Let us know which lock you decide on!

Thank you both.
I went with the Reese Towpower 7042100. Because it said it would span 3" it was an alternative on the two amazon links. Seemed like it would fit. I'll know Thursday, and post if it works. The Connor also said it would fit 3" but then said "Usable Length of pin: 2-7/8"." I wasn't sure how that would work. Maybe I should of gotten the Master but time will tell.

No problem. The reese is the same exact lock I have!

The Reese Towpower kit...

... gives you all you need to lock the trailer up - when hitched or unhitched. And all the locks are keyed alike (one key).

Jim,
Have you tried the Reese Towpower 72783 Universal Coupler Lock on a UFP type coupler? I looked at these at Amazon and based on the photos was doubtful it's oval steel hoop it would fit around the square UFP coupler.

No, that won't work with a UFP coupler. This from eTrailer should do the job...

And also keyed alike.

When you put the lock on the hitch I found out that it can go one either front side or back side and it looks locked, but if you tug it (sorry about the pun) and bang it hard it will come loose and fall off. Soooo....... false protection. Figure out which side is secure and paint that side so it shows as you look back to the trailer double checking your handy work

I use an inexpensive lock on the hitch lever and leave it in the up position. Locks keep honest people honest. I usually park my trailer among other trailers and I have often found that I have to move another trailer and therefore I want to give another person the ability to move mine around. I figure if someone wants to steal mine they will have to take it away without clamping down the hitch. My insurance is current with actual replacement value.

That SL-4 unit from hitchitsafe.com looks very interesting! First full surround lock I've seen for the UFP 2 5/16 coupler. May need to give it a try!

If you actually want to discourage theft then add a locking cable that threads through a wheel/around the frame or through two wheels.
What is slightly in our favor is that a CC with expensive rods, double screen 14 inchers, and trip 300's, is far more attractive to the thieves than a tug with only a few electronics

The Reese Towpower 7042100 works just fine, but it seems insubstantial. I'll be looking at some of the big full cover types some of you have shared. Thanks for all the input! Before I posted this query I spent a fair amount of time looking for a lock on the web without much luck. You all have opened up multiple possibilities, thanks.

I use what I call the Vault, a very good and possibly the best (and most expensive) tongue lock out there. If what is on my trailer is not worth very much, then a cheap lock is fine....

Did reese towpower. Waste of money. U bolt can slip over front of tongue. Marina needed to move trailer. Rather than call they used a hammer on the yellow part. Pot metal broke. Trailer moved. Lock pieces left in trash

I use a Hitchitsafe for my UFP coupler. I had to file the lock bar holes a little to make them line up for the lock to pass through. The top of the "cage" can be pushed forward and I am concerned that it can go far enough to allow the hitch lever to be raised. I think if you bang it hard enough it might. It certainly looks intimidating though. If someone wants your boat bad enough no lock will deter them. Thats why there is insurance 😀
