Can the wide load permit you have for the USA be used in Canada, or do you need to get separate one to use just in Canada?
I assume any permit For B.C is also okay for Ontario.

Looking at the forms ,I feel like an ant amongst some massive birds.
 
Where do you plan on traveling while in Ontario? Will you need your truck? There are some great spots to launch from in New York and travel up through the Trent Severn. You could also Launch in Mich. and travel through the North Channel. If you required a vehicle you could always rent one for the day or two.
Have you had any luck finding info through the MTO?
 
Living in BC -- but not towing my R-25 -- I thought I would troll through the BC Regulations and see if I could give you any information. What a waste of time! I can't find any information on the web for you.

If you are planning on cruising the Pacific Northwest (now known as the "Salish Sea") you should put your boat in the water in the US and save yourself a lot of problems. Crossing the border by boat is easy (ship documents and passports, of course, and no firearms!) and I think there are better storage facilities for your truck and trailer in Washington State rather than BC.

Of course, if you plan on cruising lakes in the interior, this isn't a good recommendation.

Also, don't assume that Ontario permits are good for BC. Our provinces don't play well with each other in a lot of things.

You need a oversize permit in BC but not Alberta (up to 10 feet wide). I don't know about other provinces. Here is the website http://www.cvse.ca/ for there online permits or by phone with a visa card. Every Province has their own cash grab so google over width permit by province to check. None of your US permits are valid here. Look for Storage yards for parking your truck and trailer, there are lots of them because every Canadian has an RV they store. Expect about $100 a month or more if closer to major centers. Ferries to the Island are outrages for your truck and boat $300 - $400 one way. Check BC Ferries web site for per foot costs over 20 feet and include overheight costs and passengers in your calculation. Do this sitting down and best with a strong drink in your hand. BC Ferries is Gov run so no common sense for the cost. If you travel secondary highways watch your bridge heights especially train tressels. BC is 12%(?) tax on every dollar you spend. BC stands for "Bring Cash".

BTW you need a separate over width permit for every state in the US. There are companies that will get them all for you when you are planning a trip . I have towed many thousands of miles in the southeast with R 29s and have never been stopped . But if I am going to the Fl Keys ,or Ga,Ill make sure I have an accurate permit .
A years permit for Fl. is 20 dollars . A one trip permit is 15 dollars. Thats a no brainer.
